What affects the cost
Every property is different, so we do not quote blind. The main factors are:
- Number of doors and the type of door and frame
- Reader type: fob, card, PIN or biometric
- Lock type and any emergency release requirements
- Number of users and software or management needs
- Integration with door entry, CCTV or alarms
A free survey lets us give you an accurate written quote with no obligation.
Good practice and regulations
Things worth knowing before you decide:
- Doors on escape routes must always allow people to leave, so locks and release devices are chosen carefully
- Fire safety law applies to access-controlled doors that form part of an escape route
- Biometric data is treated as sensitive personal data under UK GDPR, so consider whether it is necessary
- Remove leavers and lost fobs from the system promptly

FAQs
Access Control Systems: frequently asked questions
What is the difference between fob and card access?
Both use a small credential held near a reader. Fobs attach to key rings and are hard-wearing. Cards are slim and can be printed with names or photos. Either can be disabled if lost.
Can I control access by time and area?
Yes. You can set schedules and permissions so people can only use specific doors at specific times.
What happens if someone loses a fob?
You disable it in the system and issue a new one. You do not need to change locks.
Will the doors open in an emergency?
Doors on escape routes must allow people to leave. We design installations with emergency release where required.
Can access control link to CCTV and door entry?
Yes. Many systems can be combined so you can check entries on camera and answer visitors at the door.
Do you install access control for flats?
Yes. We install fob access for shared entrances, bin and bike stores and car parks.
