Network Cabling (Cat6 & Cat6A)

Structured Cat6 and Cat6A cabling, patch panels and tidy comms cabinets.

Network Cabling (Cat6 & Cat6A) in London

Network Cabling (Cat6 & Cat6A) for London homes and businesses

In short: We install structured Cat6 and Cat6A cabling with patch panels, outlets and labelling, then test every run. It gives homes and offices a reliable wired network that supports Wi-Fi access points, CCTV cameras, phones and computers.

A reliable network starts with good cabling. Poorly installed or unlabelled cable causes slow speeds, intermittent faults and a lot of wasted time when something needs changing.

We install and test Cat6 and Cat6A cabling for homes, offices and shops across London. Our work is tidy, labelled and documented, so your network is easy to understand, maintain and extend.

What this includes

  • Cat6 and Cat6A cable runs to desks, rooms and cameras

Cables terminated to patch panels in tidy wall or floor cabinets, instead of a tangle behind a router.

Every outlet and port labelled, with a simple record so anyone can trace a cable later.

Cable testing

Each run tested after installation to check it performs as it should.

5

PoE for cameras and access points

What affects the cost

Every property is different, so we do not quote blind. The main factors are:

  • Number of outlets and the length of each cable run
  • Cat6 or Cat6A cable and the equipment you choose
  • Building type, ceiling and floor access and any making good
  • Patch panel, cabinet and switch requirements
  • Whether cabling also powers cameras or access points over PoE

A free survey lets us give you an accurate written quote with no obligation.

Good practice and regulations

Things worth knowing before you decide:

  • Use solid-core Cat6 or Cat6A for fixed runs and keep runs within the 100 metre limit
  • Keep data cables away from mains cables where possible to reduce interference
  • Label both ends of every cable and keep a simple record
  • Test cabling after installation so faults are found early

FAQs

Network Cabling (Cat6 & Cat6A): frequently asked questions

What is the difference between Cat6 and Cat6A?

Both are good for Gigabit Ethernet. Cat6A is built to carry 10 Gigabit speeds over the full 100 metre run and has better protection against interference, so it suits demanding or future-proofed installations.

Do I need Cat6A at home?

Usually Cat6 is plenty at home. Cat6A is worth considering if you want future-proofing or run cables close to other cables or in long runs.

Can you cable a finished property?

Yes. We plan routes to minimise disruption and use trunking or concealed runs depending on the building.

Do you test and label the cabling?

Yes. Every run is tested and each outlet and port is labelled.

Can network cabling power CCTV and Wi-Fi?

Yes. With a PoE switch, one Ethernet cable can power and connect cameras and access points.

Can you tidy up my existing network cupboard?

Often yes. We can re-terminate, label and organise existing cabling and equipment.
